That was a fabulous party, excellently organized and so wonderful to replay the good memories of spending eight years of life with the same people. There were seven who attended from my class (1961) and everybody left before I got to visit more than a quick hello. I hope someone will organize another of these within the next couple years. I talked to so many friends of my sisters and brothers (Faheys had nine that went thro Visi. I was the oldest.) Bob Pollman, Bob Smith, Mark Rocheford, James McCaffrey, Jo Plourde, Sandy Schubert and Barb Lindseth were the ones I saw...

I was SO disappointed to read that I missed the last reunion. I attended one in 1987 and it was so good to see many of my old classmates. We Arseth’s grew up on 44th and Aldrich and all four of us attended “Visi”. I see many familiar names here as well. My mother was longtime friends with Mrs. Quinn and Mrs. Olmsheid. Mrs. Haschka was one of my teachers that I remember fondly along with. Mrs. Menne, Sr. Mildred, Sr. Magdalene…so many that were important during those formative years. Fr. Cogwin, Fr. Reynolds, Fr. Siebenaler, Fr. Custodio….Sr. Carola for piano lessons.

The school may be closing but the memories and the lessons, both educational and spiritual, will live on forever.

Hello classmates~
I was the youngest of 5 who attended Visitation. Three of us will be attending the big event on Saturday. Although the circumstance is sad (school closing). The event is a special time. Many good teachers, by far the most special Miss Duer, such a wonderful teacher. Hope Father Custodio drops in. I sure hope past English teachers are not critiquing my spelling! Look forward to seeing you on Saturday evening. I am thankful I live just down the block!

Visitation was a big part of my child hood. All six of the Cottrell's kids went to school there. It seemed our whole neighborhood went to Visi.

We had some great baseball teams, never had much for uniforms but we used to win almost every game. All my gang used to play field hockey in the gym on weekends...Father O used to give us the key.

We learned what we needed to learn and had a lot of fun.

Wish I could make it to the gathering but we live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My brother and maybe a couple of my sisters may stop in.

All the best to all.

Jack Cottrell

Ah, the days of 8:00 daily Mass, mandatory Stations of the Cross, religion classes with Fr. Cogwin, dodge-ball at recess..how sweet and innocent it was! Good Visi memories.
Living in MO now but will be at the Farewell this week-end...recent past: Peace Corps in Uzbekistan,2005.

I still hold fond memories of Sister Andrietta, who was both my first and second grade teacher, my days as an alterboy, and being assigned the duty of school crossing guard captain (due to my red-green colorblindness). Best wishes to all who attended, taught and supported Visitation.

Vis encouraged us to do our best. I've been a Jesuit since 1963, a priest since'75, and working in Africa since'91. Now in Nyakahoja on the shore of Lake Victoria. Blessings on all the sisters, teachers, and staff that set us on the road.

Alas, it comes to this. Back then families didn't have so much money. But they had lots of kids and always gave one or two of them to the Church as priests or religious. These dedicated men and women worked for "room and board" to make Catholic schools possible. Today ... ?

My fondest memories are of listening to my mother, Ardyce, singing in the choir. I had my first job at Guse's Hardware but I also delivered prescriptions for Meacham's.
My wife, Sara (Gjerde), and I were married by Father Cogwin in May 1970.
Sara attended Visi for a brief period in 1960.
We haven't gone far from home. We now live on the other side of Lake Harriet.

This will be a great gathering of people for those that haven't come in the past, please do.
The Quinn's were students, parishoners, and had many a weddings, baptisms, first communions, confessions and the church also helped the Quinn's say goodbye to some of our family members.
I still think of Mrs. McConnell, who was the first, first grade teacher. I believe we had 56 kids in our class, and all but 2 learned to read and write. everyone wanted to stay after and help grade her papers, clean her chalkboards and erasers. Sure don't find that much in the schools anymore....
Lots of memories to share with everyone!
I believe the Quinn family will have a good showing, hopefully the rest of the Alumni will also come, if only a few family members can make it, PLEASE BRING PHOTOS!!!!
see ya'll there! (or be square)
